TypeTrail 2025 Launches with the Word ‘Listen’

Kells Type Trail

The streets of Kells are once again alive with creativity as the much-loved Kells TypeTrail returns for 2025, transforming the town into a living canvas of words, art, and cultural expression.

This year’s trail, officially launched on 26 June, centres around the word ‘Listen’, a poignant and timely theme that invites reflection, connection, and communication. As with previous years, the chosen word is interpreted and translated into a wide variety of languages, echoing the rich diversity and shared stories of the Kells community.

Each year, TypeTrail is a chance for us to pause, take in the beauty of typography, and explore how we communicate with one another. This year’s word, Listen, is particularly special, it reminds us of the importance of empathy, awareness, and community.”

Now in its 13th year, TypeTrail has grown into one of the region’s most distinctive cultural events, drawing artists, designers, and visitors from across Ireland and beyond. It is a testament to what arts, culture, and heritage can achieve, bringing people together across generations, backgrounds, and languages.

Locals and visitors alike are encouraged to explore the installations throughout the town until 24 August, and to take a moment to truly listen, to the stories, the voices, and the shared spirit that defines Kells.
