The streets and approach roads of Kells are looking much cleaner thanks to the dedicated efforts of volunteers, who turned out in force on Saturday, 17 May, for our annual litter pick.
Traditionally held on Good Friday, this year’s event had to be postponed due to wet weather, but the delay did nothing to dampen the community spirit. Around a dozen gathered to tackle litter blackspots around the town, particularly focusing on the main routes into Kells, where rubbish had accumulated over the past months.
Armed with gloves, high-vis vests, and plenty of determination, the group collected a large haul of litter, an effort made easier thanks to support from Meath County Council, who kindly arranged for the disposal of the collected bags. Following the clean-up, volunteers were invited to Parnell Gardens, where well-earned refreshments were served
Kells Local Heroes would like to thank everyone who took part, noting the strong turnout as a testament to the community’s ongoing commitment to keeping Kells clean and welcoming for residents and visitors alike.
